1 Devices

Print devices are the printers we have on our intranet network. A printing device is within a logical group of printers.

A physical printing device is uniquely identified by the code, associated with a description, type and file.

The type is the programming language that accepts the printer, well PS (PostScript) or PCL.

The file is the full name of the device. For the filename, the same syntax is used as in UNIX. For example, if we have an HP 930 Color printer, on a computer in our intranet network, with the name pc-01, the file name of the print device would be '\\ pc-01 \ hpdj930c'.

File The file is the complete name of the device. For the file name the same syntax is used that in UNIX. Thus for example, if we have a printing HP, 930 model HP Color, in a computer of our Intranet, with name PC-01, the name of file of the printing device would be ' \\pc-01\hpdj930c'.
Host Host connected to printer.
User Name of user who will appear like proprietor of the document in the print queue. This name will be the one that it will have assigned the group of impression for the corresponding printer. If the value does not inquire east field it will be the code of the user who has commanded to print the document. This is used because the print queue could be formable so that only the indicated users could send to print.
Port Port of access to the printer. The value of this field by defect is a 0 and indicates that the port of standard access will be used (515).
Time out Maximum time in seconds of delay that the system will wait for an answer of the printer.
Banner This flag indicates if it is desired that the printer emits a previous page to the document impression that indicates the number of task (job) that is making. This serves to classify the impressions.

  • Values:
    • 1: Yes.
    • 0: No.

2 Geometries

In this option the user can establish the different geometries to be assigned to the different devices. The geometry of the printer indicates the type of page, the number of lines in normal mode, in compressed mode and in landscape mode. In this way, n printers can point to the same geometry.

3 Groups

This option is accessed to the maintenance group printers intranet.

A group of printers is a logical entity that can group multiple physical devices print.

The system only has access to printers connected to the same network as that found on the server, ie can only communicate with printers intranet.

A physical printing device is uniquely identified by a code, carries an associated description, type and file.

The rate is the programming language that accepts the printer, or PS (PostScript) or PCL

And file is the full name of the device. For the filename using the same syntax as UNIX. For example, if you have an HP printer, model 930 HP Color in a computer our intranet, named PC-01, the filename Device Print it '\ \ bw-01 \ hpdj930c'.
